The 1847-D is a middle-availability issue among Dahlonega half eagles with an estimated surviving population of 275 to 325 coins, according to Doug Winter (2013). A total of 64,405 pieces were struck in all. He calls the issue 'very scarce in properly graded' AU55 to AU58, but lower grades are readily available.
