Gone WithThe Wind "Mammy's Love" Domed Music Box By Franklin Mint & Turner Entertainment Co, 1993.  "Mammy's Love" is fully authenticated and authorized by Turner Home Entertainment. The Music Box Plays: "Mammy's Theme." Mammy's Love has been crafted from fine Tesori porcelain, covered with a crystal-clear dome and set onto a hard wood base with a pecan finish. It is further certified that this original work of art is available exclusively through The Franklin Mint. She had first been Ellen Robillard's maid, before Miss Ellen married Gerald O'Hara. That marriage brought about the care of "O'Hara's plantation" and the care of the subsequent three daughters, Carreen, Suellen, and Scarlett. To each of the daughters, Mammy tried to impart a sense of decorum and other important life lessons. It was with Scarlett, however, that Mammy's lessons were not well received. On the day of the Wilkes' barbecue (the setting of this piece) Scarlett is in a peevish mood. She refuses to wear the dress that Mammy has chosen for her, opting instead for her green-flowered muslin dress. Before Scarlett can wear any dress, however, she must have her corset tightened, as was tradition.  Scarlett's tiny waist is renowned throughout the countryside. Mammy and Scarlett argue about the necessity of Scarlett's eating before the barbecue, and it seems as if Scarlett's stubbornness is going to rule, when Mammy states that it is not proper for a young lady to eat too much at a party, and then implies that she will not catch Ashley Wilkes anyway. Through the course of the epic film, Gone with the Wind, Mammy is a steadfast provider of care and nurture. She will stay with Scarlett through-out her marriages, continuing to impart her wisdom whether the fiery Scarlett listens or not. She tends to Scarlett and Rhett's daughter, Bonnie Blue, and even sends for help when Rhett is sunk in despair. With the embodiment of love, wisdom and care, Mammy is the true heroine of this beloved film, indomitable in the face of sorrow and woe. This collectible does not come with the original box. It has been stored in a glass curio cabinet and was purchased at an estate sale.
