Roberts Johnson & Rand Antique Shipping Crate Wooden Original Stencil . Condition is Used. I have picked a lot of wooden trunks and boxes in my many years of picking and treasure hunting but this is one of the best with advertising I have ever found and it can be yours. It measures 28 1/2" wide, 14 1/2" tall and 15" wide. Has saw cut top with rubber hinge and many old nails holding it together. What I can make out of the stencil on the end says the following ""Roberts Johnson & Rand Shoe Co St.Louis Giant Calf Meas cap Bal 12 Pairs" there is more on there but I cant read it enough to tell what it says, on the back it has the Red star star shoe logo which merged with Rand in 1899 so this box could be 1899, but we estimate it to be year 1899-1910. Does have a paper liner inside that someone added in more modern times. This is a very cool piece of American shoe history and worthy of a museum or a really special shoe shop, there are no others like this anywhere and the giant calf shoe wasnt mass producedso this very well could be the only one.
